GCSAA chapters in Texas support communities by giving back to individuals in need.
Key takeaways
- Texas GCSA chapters are making a meaningful community impact through charitable giving and volunteer efforts that extend well beyond golf course management.
- Each chapter supports local causes in unique ways and for different kinds of organizations that benefit the greater community.
- Community service is a core part of GCSAA’s mission, with these Texas chapters contributing to the association's broader 100 Acts of Service Centennial initiative to strengthen communities nationwide.
Improving communities as a GCSAA member goes beyond the game of golf – so many members are eager to give back to the communities and people who support and lend them a hand along the way. GCSAA’s Texas chapters are making a difference in the Lone Star State.
Central Texas GCSA
Every December, the Central Texas GCSA puts the GCSAA mission into action by hosting a toy drive. CTGCSA members are asked to bring at least $20 in new toys, but they always bring more.
The toys are donated to benefit a local children’s hospital, foster care homes or the police department, depending on their chosen organization each year. Once the toy drive is complete, the donations are delivered by CTGCSA members.
South Texas GCSA
The South Texas GCSA also hosts an annual toy drive in tandem with its annual meeting in November. The STGCSA rallies and raises more than $1,000 for the community cause each year. The chapter has partnered with Kids Meals Inc., an organization in Houston that provides families with resources to help end the cycle of poverty, since 2021 and plans to continue the tradition.
North Texas GCSA
Over the last 20 years, the North Texas GCSA has donated more than $100,000 to Scottish Rite for Children, a pediatric hospital in Dallas. They have also partnered with Scottish Rite every fall for many years to host their member education sessions and will continue that.
Texas members aren’t the only ones giving back. GCSAA’s chapters are honoring the association’s Centennial by taking part in 100 Acts of Service. Learn more about GCSAA-affiliated chapters are helping improve their communities.
