The Bayer Superintendent Grant Program has been offered since 2004 through Bayer Environmental Science, a business unit of Bayer Crop Science Inc. The grants are awarded by the Environmental Institute for Golf, GCSAA’s philanthropic organization.

The grant program underwrites the total cost for the superintendents to attend the 2019 Golf Industry Show, Feb. 2-7 in San Diego. The superintendents receive airfare, hotel accommodations for five nights, full conference registration, registration for two education seminars and $200 spending money. All currently employed superintendents who had not attended the Golf Industry Show in the previous two years were eligible to apply, and winners were chosen from a drawing. The recent-attendance rule was waived for hurricane victims.

“The devastation left in the wake of these hurricanes is heartbreaking, so we are extending our offer of additional grants as a way the Bayer Superintendent Grant Program can give back to those who have been impacted,” says Mike Hirvela, Bayer Crop Science customer marketing manager.

“We are grateful to Bayer for once again doubling the number of winners and extending their support to superintendents who have been faced with additional challenges, such as recovery from hurricanes,” says Rhett Evans, GCSAA CEO. “Bayer has been a strong supporter of GCSAA by consistently contributing to the betterment of our members’ profession.”
