Darrell Hammond to entertain at the Golf Industry Show

Actor and comedian Darrell Hammond, best known for his 14 years on “Saturday Night Live,” will entertain at the Closing Celebration, Feb. 8, the final day of the 2018 Golf Industry Show in San Antonio. GCSAA, which annually hosts the industry’s largest golf course management trade show, made the announcement on behalf of its 17,500 members and the Closing Celebration sponsor, John Deere Golf.

The event's theme, “Connect. Discover. Elevate.”, highlights the scope of educational, exhibitor and networking opportunities available Feb. 3-8 at the GCSAA Golf Championships, the GCSAA Education Conference and the industry trade show. GIS will offer a dynamic, progressive week of unparalleled networking opportunities and hands-on access to golf course and facility management solutions for golf industry professionals. GCSAA will also host marquee events to recognize its annual award winners, including World Golf Hall of Famer Ernie Els, 2018 recipient of the Old Tom Morris Award.

Hammond, 62, the second-longest cast member in “SNL” history, was lauded by viewers and critics alike for his impersonations of celebrities and politicians, including Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Sean Connery, Regis Philbin, Dan Rather, John Travolta, Jesse Jackson, Richard Dreyfus and Ted Koppel. He even brought his impressions to the White House, appearing alongside President Clinton in 2007, and receiving a standing ovation from the press and President George W. Bush at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2001.

In addition to his “SNL” appearances, Hammond has been seen in a number of feature films and television shows. As a truly versatile actor, Hammond has displayed his talents in both dramatic and comedic roles. Some of his feature films include “New York Minute,” “Celtic Pride,” “Blues Brothers 2000,” “Agent Cody Banks” and “The Devil and Daniel Webster.” On television, he has been seen in “Law and Order: SVU,” “Damages” and “Third Rock from the Sun.”

On stage, he continues to move audiences with his comedy, performing throughout the country. Hammond gave Comedy Central its biggest ratings to date for a half-hour comedy special, performing in his own “Comedy Central Presents: Darrell Hammond.” He also appears frequently to perform on national late-night talk shows. As an actor, he continually looks for new and challenging roles to expand his talents in film and television.
